Organizational Structures Unit

The organizational structure of any institution is a means to help it achieve its goals efficiently and effectively by achieving harmony between the various departments, divisions, units and activities and avoiding overlap, duplication and others, on the other hand, the organizational structure has a significant impact on the behavior of individuals and groups in institutions.  The division of labor and specialization involves assigning specific tasks and duties to the individual and the obligations of the individual. The organizational structure represents a picture of the structure of the institution or a diagram that shows all the main functions and administrative units and the relationships that bind those units to each other and  the chain of responsibility that links the parts of the institution.

The success of the institution in building a successful organizational structure depends on its ability to  work to create an appropriate work environment and its ability to achieve a high degree of adaptation, conformity and harmonization between its organizational structure and its objectives, as well as the efficiency of the human element, and the efficiency of its material resources, and this shows the importance of the existence of the organizational structure of the institution, in terms of its concept and definition as the framework that determines the departments and the interdependence between its units.

As one of the most prestigious Iraqi universities, the University of Basrah is proud of the integration of its organizational structure to achieve its educational, research and scientific goals. To ensure the continued modernization and development of administrative units at the university, the university introduced the Organizational Structures Unit as an independent unit linked to the Studies and Planning Department at the university in 2022.


Tasks of the Organizational Structures Unit:

1- Continuous follow-up with all formations to update the organizational structures at the university.

2- Follow-up with the Organizational Structures Division in the Administrative and Financial Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with all developments and changes in the general structures of the colleges, departments and divisions of the university, linkages and distribution of tasks, as well as providing them with all changes.

3- Cooperating with all university formations for the purpose of providing them with all the required data on the organizational structure.

4- Follow-up with the Administrative and Financial Department to follow up on changes in the organizational structure.

5- Providing administrative advice to all university formations on administrative developments.

6- Conducting training courses to train the employees of the university formations on how to build the organizational structure according to the controls and instructions.

7- Submitting the organizational structure of the university annually to the Ministry for the purpose of approval.
